A Note From Our Founder
I've personally had 16 Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCC) removed and now face two weeks of radiotherapy. This long-term and personal experience with skin cancer has led me to create Black Heron Headwear. A hat business for skin cancer sufferers or people worried about sun damage.
I wanted a hat that combined real, scientific sun protection with a design I'd actually want to wear — something that would protect my face, neck and ears without compromise.
So I made one.
The name comes from the black heron — a bird that spreads its wings 360 degrees,like an umbrella ,to create shade while it hunts. That idea stayed with me. Just as the heron uses its wings to block out the sun, I've designed these hats to do the same for you: 2 hats in 1,superior protection and comfort, so you can enjoy the activities you love without worry.
Every hat is crafted with certified UPF50+ fabric. I'm confident you won't give sun damage a second thought.
